Common, Office for Design and Urbanism, was founded on an interest in interiors, buildings, urbanism and territory. Emerging out of a body of work that ranges between the domestic and large scale urban design proposals, the office is committed to making buildings, design research and speculative work.
Current work includes a series of houses, extensions, the design of a furniture line, communal buildings and speculative housing projects. All projects are treated as equal, regardless of scale, program or requirements. The design process is rigorous, and the Office believes that organisation and clarity are crucial to achieving projects that actively contribute to both urban and domestic life.
Common Office is Rob Meyerson, Manuel Hankoo, Janice Leng, Michael Cho and Josh Healey
Rob Meyerson studied at the University of Sydney, the Pratt Institute in New York and later at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he was a Deans Merit Scholar. Rob has taught summer design studios at Harvard, and been an invited guest at The University of Sydney and University of Technology Sydney, and currently co-ordinates a Masters Architecture studio at Western Sydney University. Previously Rob worked in the Sydney offices of Bates Smart and Supercontext, and for Andrew Berman Architect in New York City.
