The pair is conceived as two distinct volumes with separate entrances. Deep, arched concrete reveals give each dwelling a pronounced architectural presence, allowing the homes to read independently from the street while retaining a shared sense of solidity.
A building with weight
Where much Australian residential architecture favours lightness, the project pursues a more substantial architectural presence—one that touches the ground with weight. Extending the studio’s interest in bringing civic qualities into residential typologies, this approach is expressed through mass itself: a solid, monolithic structure that gives the pair a grounded presence along the street.
Depth and shadow
The sense of heaviness is articulated through a solid base and deep-set reveals within the textured façade. Arched openings recede into the wall, creating shifting depth and shadow across its surface. Corrugated screens wrap the composition, introducing a fine vertical rhythm across the rendered volumes. Together, these elements give the pair a civic character shaped by mass, texture and light.
