Housing, Assemble
The project redefines transitional housing with an adaptable, modular proposal, moving beyond the logic of temporary accommodation to offer dignified, self-sufficient urban living.
Beyond basic shelter
Transitional housing often provides little more than basic, efficient shelter. This proposal approaches the typology differently, considering the psychological and social needs of its inhabitants. Each space is conceived as a private domain in which individuals can carry out all aspects of their life in meaningful and dignified ways.
An interlocking community
Comprising two double-storey volumes separated by a communal open spine, the architecture contains a range of unit types adaptable to accommodate families, individuals, or couples. Each unit connects to a central core that consolidates services and vertical circulation, allowing complete flexibility in the ordering and sequencing of the interior spaces.
An adaptable system
Prefabricated brick forms the structural base—providing a sturdy core that is easily assembled on-site, while sheets of timber and metal complete the modular units. This underlying system of units, core, and frame is designed to be replicated, condensed, or extended vertically, allowing the proposal to adapt to sites of any capacity, size, or shape.
