Project for a new shop top housing building.
The project is conceived of as an intervention into the existing fabric facing the busy Old South Head Rd. The existing building, a mix of stucco render and strong vertical columns, conceals a poorly laid out building behind. Retaining the existing street frontage, and opening up the façade to reveal deep loggias, the project is a response to the demands of a pandemic lifestyle. Commercial tenancies occupy the ground floor, while the floors above contain a mix of housing.
